Another hoverfly, this time a striking wasp mimic. The markings make me think, rather obscurely, of the Swiss Guard. Not to be confused with swiss chard.

Fly of the Week # 3 Heliophilus pendulus
Another hoverfly, this time a striking wasp mimic. The markings make me think, rather obscurely, of the Swiss Guard. Not to be confused with swiss chard.
